Job description

Husch Blackwell LLP is a national law firm with multiple locations across the United States, dedicated to our clients and the industries they serve.

We have an immediate opening for an Education Senior Counsel with at least eight years of experience preferred. We will consider candidates for any of our offices including our virtual office, The Link. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience advising private, religious, and public educational institutions of all levels (with a particular focus on K-12) and educational service providers in all aspects of advising on education regulatory landscapes, operational challenges, and employment law.

Previous experience in handling state and federal government filed complaints and familiarity with FERPA, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, EPA, ADA, Section 504, IDEA, and ADEA is also preferred. Experience providing education regulatory advising for schools opening across the country, including guidance on state-specific licensing, accreditation, and operational compliance requirements, is highly valued.

The ideal candidate will have excellent academic credentials, a commitment to the community, superior interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated record of working well under pressure. The candidate should demonstrate exceptional judgment, the ability to effectively handle multiple projects, excellent communication and writing abilities, and the ability to articulate legal strategies and courses of action. Candidates should have an active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which they are applying or commit to obtaining one as soon as possible. This is not a partnership-track position.

We offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and much more.

Pursuant to applicable state laws, the compensation range for this position in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Vermont is $250,000-$325,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salaries in all other markets will vary depending on market data.
