Job summary

The Santa Barbara Zoo is seeking an Education Coordinator to oversee educational programs and products. This role involves coordinating events, managing curriculum, and providing support to enhance the Zoo's mission of education.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in relevant fields and experience with educational programs, particularly those focused on children. Strong communication skills and the ability to teach effectively are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Some experience working with children.
• Experience in an informal education facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creates and evaluates all aspects of Education products and curriculum.
• Coordinates special Zoo events and educational activities.
• Provides critical coordination and leadership during program operations.

Skills

Basic knowledge of Elementary Education and Biology/Zoology

Ability to organize daily activities

Excellent coordination skills

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Ability to lead activities in an age-appropriate manner

Education

B.S. or B.A. in liberal arts, education, conservation, biology, or equivalent

Tools

Personal Computer and software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Two-way radio
