Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years of direct support experience.
• Bachelors degree preferred, but not required.
• Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to Teacher in planning classroom curriculum and implements plans to meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the assigned student.
• Aids in assessment of student abilities and development of lesson plans aligned to IEP goals.
• Maintains classroom environment conducive to learning and guides students to socially appropriate behavior.
• Assists Teacher with proper utilization of classroom equipment and materials; advises on supplies and curriculum purchases.
• Observes and tracks student behavior, collects data, and creates visuals for review to monitor progress.
• Manages individual student behavior to create a safe classroom; reports safety hazards to Teacher.
