Job summary

Children's Mercy KC is seeking a Trauma and Burn Education Outreach Nurse to initiate and maintain education opportunities across the hospital service area. You will partner with referral hospitals, EMS, and flight services to advance visibility and growth of the program while upholding safety standards.

You will oversee education requirements, participate in performance improvement activities and support site visits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Trauma nursing experience 3-5 years preferred.
  • RN licensure in MO/KS or multi-state; EMS licensure preferred.
  • Certified Trauma Nurse certification preferred.
  • TNCC Instructor certification desired; ABLS Providers and Instructors if applicable.
  • Specialty certifications relevant to trauma/burn unit encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and coordinate pediatric trauma and burn education opportunities.
  • Identify and develop trauma and burn outreach opportunities in the service area.
  • Oversee education requirements for the trauma and burn program within the hospital system.
  • Participate in trauma and burn performance improvement activities supporting education and outreach.
  • Support verification/site visits and other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
3-5 years trauma nursing experience

Trauma Nursing Core Course Instructor
Advanced Burn Life Support Providers

Overview

Responsible for initiating and maintaining education and outreach opportunities supporting the trauma and burn programs within the hospital service area. Serves as an active participant in strengthening existing and forging new partnerships that promote visibility, impact and growth of the trauma and burn education and outreach program. This position will be the primary contact for referral hospitals, EMS agencies and flight services in regards to education and outreach activities. Responsible for initiating and maintaining education and outreach opportunities supporting the trauma and burn programs within the hospital service area. Serves as an active participant in strengthening existing and forging new partnerships that promote visibility, impact and growth of the trauma and burn education and outreach programs.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the verification and site visit process and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years experience registered nurse with previous trauma care experience
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas, RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri, RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO required upon hire
  • Certified Trauma Nurse
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course Instructor. Certification tracked by department leadership. Required 1 Year
  • Advanced Burn Life Support Providers. Certification tracked by department leadership. Required 1 Year
  • Advanced Burn Life Support Instructor required within 2 years of hire.Certification tracked by department leadership. Required
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Previous/Current EMS licensure (EMT, EMT-A or EMT-P) or EMS experience Preferred Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred Upon Hire

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $35.90/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children's Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
