Job summary

ABM Industries Inc. is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at a K-12 school or higher education campus.

Responsibilities include cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, while following safety procedures and using chemical cleaners appropriately. No high school diploma required and on-the-job training is provided; prior customer service experience is a plus, with a preference for at least one year of similar work experience.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Prior customer service experience preferred.
• One year of prior similar work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas (classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, etc.).
• Sweep, mop floors, remove debris and spills in designated areas.
• Regularly empty trash from all areas.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners to protect floors and fixtures.
• Notify supervisor about repairs or equipment needs.
• Communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Collect, sort, and recycle waste into proper receptacles.
• Dust desks, chairs, tables, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, walls and ceilings.
• Polish hard surfaces such as wood and stainless steel.
• Wipe tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets and furniture to clean areas as needed.
• Clean interior glass, windows, and mirrors with cleaners and squeegees.
• Seasonal tasks include snow removal or lawn care as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and comply with safety standards.
