Job summary

Alliance for Children’s Rights in Los Angeles seeks a dedicated Special Education Attorney to join the Education Program. The role is exempt and full-time, focusing on zealous advocacy for youths in education, child welfare, and juvenile justice systems.

Qualifications

• JD required and CA bar admission in good standing.
• 1–3 years of legal experience, with at least 1 year in special education.
• Bilingual Spanish language skills highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist children with disabilities in securing early intervention and special education services through IFSP/IEP processes and related advocacy.
• Train and supervise pro bono attorneys, interns, and law clerks.
• Develop and deliver trainings and tools for clients, caregivers, and stakeholders to understand special education rights.
• Collaborate with the education team to address issues of ableism, racism, sexism, and other barriers.
