River Park Hospital is seeking an Education Coordinator to oversee educational programs for staff and patients within a behavioral health setting. The role involves curriculum development, implementing educational activities, and ensuring smooth operational flow across programs.

The ideal candidate will have WV teaching certification, strong administrative abilities, and a passion for fostering learning environments that support recovery and development for diverse age groups including children

Qualifications

• Must hold WV teacher certification and be able to read, write and speak English.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to work independently with patients, staff and families.
• Experience using computer systems including eMR and email is essential.

Responsibilities

• Meet corporate and state educational goals for programs.
• Develop individualized lesson plans based on age, diagnosis, and population.
• Coordinate with county Board of Education for enrollment, transfers and testing.
• Develop annual education plan and provide Best in Class reports as required.
• Provide progress reports to treatment teams, parents and schools.
• Lead quarterly meetings with teachers to plan PRTF education services.
• Support patient safety through observation and crisis intervention when needed.
• Document progress on the treatment plan and interventions.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Skilled at meeting corporate and state educational goals and requirements for educational program
• Provides for educational needs including individualized lesson plans which are based on age, diagnosis, and population of students.
• Liaison with county Board of Education to handle all issues related to student enrollment, transfer of grades and state testing
• RPH representative for Corporate Education including developing annual education plan, providing Best in Class reports and other required corporate information
• Provides educational progress reports to the treatment team, parents/guardians, and school systems as needed
• Capable of utilizing crisis intervention skills to support the patient and to maintain safety
• Schedules and mentors RPH teachers to ensure county educational standards are provided within the PRTF programs
• Capable of providing patient safety initiatives such as performing observation rounds, incident management, and management of high-risk precautions
• Accurately documents on the treatment plan illustrating patient progress or need for additional education, problem or intervention identification
• Schedules and leads quarterly meetings with teachers to appropriately plan for PRTF educational services

Specialized Skills and Knowledge (List the minimum required specific knowledge and skills necessary to perform this job. (e.g., basic accounting principles, computer programming, spreadsheets, specific healthcare processes, etc.

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language. 5. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations to patients, families, treatment providers, and other employees.
• WV certified teacher
• Basic experience with general clerical skills, including computer, fax machine, telephone, copier. 6. Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, personnel, and support agencies.
• Must be willing to provide services to a diverse population, including varying levels of physical and cognitive functioning, 7. Must be willing and able to work as an effective team member with other members of the hospital staff.
• Must be able to become proficient at using computer systems to facilitate patient care including eMR and email systems. 8. Must demonstrate professionalism and abide by the hospital's values and ethical principles of the applicable licensing board.
