Families Forward, a member of The Fedcap Group, is seeking an Education and Training Instructor to deliver Power of Possible and Life Skills workshops at our South Paris, ME center. The role focuses on helping participants become job-ready through structured curricula and engaged instruction.

The instructor will lead ESOL sessions, apply progressive learning, and support participants toward work experiences and employment outcomes, with a Monday–Friday daytime schedule and comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver POP and Life Skills workshops as scheduled, ensuring consistency, professionalism, and adherence to curriculum standards.

  • Prepare materials and technology in advance for uninterrupted delivery.

Families Forward, a member of The Fedcap Group, is looking for a mission-driven individual to join our team as an Education and Training Instructor! This person will provide training and instruction to people from all walks of life who are looking to overcome barriers to meet their employment-focused goals and become “Job Ready”. Also known as a Work Readiness Instructor, this role is an integral component of the workforce development model at our South Paris opportunity center.

Position Summary

The Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality Power of Possible (POP) and Life Skills workshops that actively engage participants and prepare them for work, training, and long-term career success. This role builds the skills, behaviors, and accountability required for participants to progress into Work Experience (WEP), Community Service (CS), Short-Term Occupational Training (STOT), and employment.

Using a structured, proactive, and outcome-driven approach, the Instructor delivers curriculum aligned with progressive learning stages, moving participants from foundational understanding to practical application and independent use of skills. The instructor leads engaging, high-energy sessions, sets clear expectations, and actively involves all participants by fostering an environment that encourages participation, ownership and consistent engagement.

Dynamic, confident, and action-oriented, the Instructor maintains high standards of delivery, holds participants accountable, and creates an environment where engagement, effort, and measurable progress are expected and achieved.

Responsibilities
POP and Life Skills Training Delivery
  • Deliver Power of Possible (POP) and Life Skills workshops as scheduled, ensuring consistency, professionalism, and adherence to curriculum standards.
  • Conduct Single Stop® Benefits screenings and support participants with applications for eligible benefits, that may include Low Income Heating Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Head Start, Free Tax Filing, Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC).
  • Facilitate English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) ENGEN classroom session, including leading language immersion exercises, supporting participants in navigating learning software, providing individualized guidance, and tracking progress to support skill development.
  • Lead engaging, high-energy sessions that actively involve all participants and maintain strong participation from start to finish.
  • Set clear expectations for behavior, participation, and accountability at the start of each session and reinforce them consistently.
  • Use a variety of facilitation strategies to maintain attention, drive participation, and ensure understanding across diverse learning styles.
  • Maintain a structured classroom environment that promotes attendance, participation, and completion of assigned activities.
  • Prepare all materials and technology in advance to ensure effective and uninterrupted workshop delivery.
  • Delivering training aligned with progressive learning stages, ensuring participants move from:
    • Understanding key concepts (e.g., workplace expectations, communication)
    • To applying skills in real-world scenarios (e.g., role play, problem-solving)
    • To demonstrate independence through consistent participation, completion of activities, and readiness for next steps
  • Apply structured learning approaches, using an experiential learning approach that integrates cognitive (head), affective (heart), and psychomotor (hand) development. This approach ensures participants not only gain knowledge, but also build confidence, demonstrate workplace behaviors, apply skills in real world contexts, positioning them to access opportunities within the hidden job market
  • Facilitate activities that reinforce learning through practice, reflection, and application, ensuring participants can use skills beyond the classroom environment
Participant Readiness, Assessment, and Progression
  • Assess participant engagement, performance, and readiness for work, WEP/CS, and STOT through direct observation, participation, and completion of activities.
  • Identify and communicate with participants who are work-ready or ready for next steps, ensuring timely progression into appropriate activities.
  • Provide clear, direct, and actionable feedback to participants, reinforcing expectations and addressing gaps in performance or engagement.
  • Take proactive steps to address disengagement, including redirecting behavior, reinforcing expectations, and re-engaging participants in real time.
  • Reinforce workplace expectations, including attendance, communication, behavior, and accountability, ensuring participants understand what is required for success.
  • Assign and track completion of learning activities and ensure participants are progressing consistently.
Attendance, Documentation, and Data Management
  • Track and record 100% of participant attendance for all workshops, ensuring accuracy and alignment with program requirements.
  • Enter all attendance, engagement, and participant progress in FedcapCARES within 1 business day.
  • Ensure participant hours are accurately recorded and aligned with assigned activities.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready documentation at all times.
Collaboration and Program Alignment
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and case conferencing as needed, providing clear input on participant engagement, readiness, and progression.
  • Collaborate closely with Career Advisors and Placement Specialists to ensure alignment between training, participant plans, and next steps.
  • Communicate participant progress, concerns, and readiness clearly and consistently to the team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, workforce development, or related field preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in adult education, workshop facilitation, or workforce development coaching.
  • Experience working with individuals facing barriers to employment strongly preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be considered.
  • Minimum starting salary $46,000, depending on experience.
