Job summary

Institute of Foundation Models is seeking a Content Marketing and Editorial Director to shape the editorial vision and content strategy for IFM. This hands-on role combines strategy, editing and publishing to build the IFM brand and communicate research, Foundational Models and World Models to AI developers, industry influencers, policymakers and the broader community.

The role is based in our Sunnyvale, CA office and involves leading the editorial voice end-to-end, collaborating with engineers,

Qualifications

• 8-10 years in content marketing or research communications, ideally with exposure to technical/scientific fields (AI, ML, or adjacent deep tech).
• Track record of credible, well-sourced long-form content like reports, indices, technical blogs, and short-form content.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the editorial voice, calendar and content strategy end-to-end for a deeply technical lab.
• Build relationships with IFM engineers to pull stories from dense technical work.
• Own the editorial pipeline and content engine, including systems for idea generation, prioritization, production and distribution.
• Push the work beyond the page with video and multimedia storytelling.
• Oversee IFM's owned channels and align with website/visual design.
• Manage a social media manager.
• Collaborate with Communications Lead, Research and Product to shape model communications.
• Coordinate annual IFM flagship research report with research teams and transparency standards.
• Build out a freelance writing team over time.
• Track metrics.
