Job summary

Community Impact News is seeking an Editor for Grapevine/Colleyville/Southlake. You will guide reporters, ensure quality formatting for digital and print, and partner with Design to produce clear, engaging content.

This role represents the community and fosters trust with readers. You will oversee editorial production, coach reporters, manage deadlines, and develop story ideas while maintaining AP style and high editorial standards.

Qualifications

• College degree in journalism or related coursework preferred.
• 2+ years of full-time experience with print or digital publications.
• Experience in interviewing, writing, editing, and overseeing writers.
• Ability to pass writing and copy editing tests.
• Strong news judgment and ability to generate story ideas.
• Proficiency in AP style and hard news/feature writing.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Manage editorial production for monthly newspaper edition.
• Produce timely daily digital content for website and newsletter.
• Supervise and mentor reporters; meet deadlines.
• Provide feedback on hiring/firing/disciplina decisions for staff.
• Develop original story ideas and present at planning meetings.
• Investigate and write engaging, content-appropriate news stories.
• Lead graphics and sidebars concepts for stories.
• Maintain beat coverage and coordinate with city councils and boards.
