WESH 2/CW18, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in the Orlando market, is seeking a part-time News Editor. The role involves editing stories, videos, and newscasts under tight deadlines for both TV and digital platforms, with in-person attendance required.

The ideal candidate will excel in visual storytelling, have strong writing skills, and be able to manage multiple edits using non-linear systems and ENG/SNG feeds.

Qualifications

• Ability to edit on linear and nonlinear editing software
• Proficiency editing with Adobe Premiere
• Ability to juggle multiple editing assignments under strict deadlines
• Knowledge of current video production techniques
• Familiarity with media responsibilities and mass communications law
• Record multiple feeds on a digital encoding system
• Able to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment

Responsibilities

• Maintain news archives
• Operate electronic newsgathering equipment
• Nonlinear editing using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid, and Edius for PKGs, VOs, VOSOTs, opens, teases and preproduction material
• Collaborate with producers, reporters and managers to produce high quality stories
• Ensure proper storage and organization of media files
• Maintains standards for edited material
• Take in ENG and SNG feeds
• Perform other editing responsibilities as assigned by news managers

WESH 2/CW18, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in the Orlando market, has an opening for a highly motivated and creative Part-Time News Editor to work in a very competitive news market. This position will cover news stories as assigned. Our ideal candidate has an excellent eye forvisual compelling storytelling and is passionate about combining strong writing and storytelling with great pictures and sound.

Responsibilities

• Edit stories, videos, and newscasts on tight deadlines for newscasts and digital platforms.
• Maintain news archives
• Operate electronic newsgathering equipment
• Nonlinear editing using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid, and Edius for newscast elements including PKGs, VOs, VOSOTs, opens, teases and preproduction material
• Collaborate with producers, reporters and managers to produce high quality stories
• Ensure proper storage and organization of media files
• Maintain standards for all edited material
• Taking in ENG and SNG feeds
• Any other editing responsibilities as assigned by news managers

Requirements

• Ability to work and edit on linear and nonlinear editing software

• Related military experience will be considered
