Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is hiring an Edifecs Application Engineer for a remote role supporting VA. The ideal candidate will administer, configure, and optimize the Edifecs platform, manage EDI processing, and collaborate with DevSecOps, Cloud, and business teams.

Public Trust (MBI) clearance is required, and a strong AWS background is essential. Minimum 8+ years in EDI/enterprise ops, with hands-on Edifecs experience and architecture discipline.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of EDIFECS architecture and transaction lifecycles.
• Experience with AWS cloud environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Hands-on understanding of EDIFECS XEServer, XEngine, TPM, SpecBuilder.
• Experience with EDI integration, AS2, SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, API gateways.
• Experience with EDI troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Knowledge of JVM tuning, logs, and memory management.
• Infrastructure as code experience (Ansible and Terraform).
• Ability to communicate architecture decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and JIRA.
• Strong documentation habits.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, troubleshoot, and enhance the Edifecs platform, ensuring reliable and compliant Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transaction processing.
• Configure and maintain XEServer, XEngine, TPM, SpecBuilder, and related modules.
• Build, deploy, and optimize Edifecs processing rules, routing logic, and batch workflows.
• Analyze and resolve mapping issues, validation failures, functional errors, and performance bottlenecks.
• Manage system logging, JVM tuning, and certificate/keystore configurations.
• Support release deployments, environment refreshes, patching, and upgrades.
• Collaborate with EDI Analysts, DevSecOps Engineers, Cloud teams, and business teams.
