Job summary

Grainger in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a software engineer to design and implement Linux-based edge software for real-time sensing and device control. This is an individual contributor role with roughly 50% focus on embedded/edge, collaborating across the edge-to-cloud pipeline.

You will work with C/C++, Python, and Linux user-space with kernel exposure, building CI/CD pipelines, containerizing services, and contributing to secure, scalable edge solutions for a broad industrial customer base.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience with C/C++ and Python.
• Experience with Linux user space and ideally kernel fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Design & implement Linux software (C/C++, Python) for real-time sensing and device control.
• Integrate hardware and firmware: bring-up boards, write device drivers, and interface with peripherals.
