Job summary

The role supports the doctor and hygienist, ensuring accurate health histories, high-quality radiographs, and efficient operatory flow.

Responsibilities include four-handed dentistry, instrument preparation, radiograph mounting, lab coordination, patient education, and scheduling referrals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current radiography certification required.
• Active dental assistant license as per state.
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by state.

Responsibilities

• Assist the doctor and hygienist with dental procedures while maintaining patient service and flow.
• Provide chair-side assistance and ensure excellent patient experiences.
• Review patient charts prior to doctor arrival and document health history.
• Prepare, sterilize and arrange equipment and operatory before and after appointments.
• Perform four-handed dentistry including temporary crowns, rubber dam, and restorations.
• Take, develop and mount radiographs and intra-oral photos.
• Track lab cases and monitor/order dental supplies.
• Educate patients and address questions to ease concerns.
• Assist administrative team with scheduling referrals as needed.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and safety protocols.

Overview

Skills/ Abilities

• Provide exceptional customer service, with excellent chair-side manner, while demonstrating teamwork
• Assist the doctor and/or hygienist(s), with dental procedures maintain excellent patient service, integrity, flow.
• Review patient charts prior to doctor arrival, document appropriate patient information and health history during the exam and treatment, ensure all patient consents are completed prior to treatment.
• Four Handed Dentistry- fabricate temporary crowns, place rubber dam, place amalgam and composite restorations, assist with seating permanent/removable prosthodontics, coronal polishing, sealant placement.
• Ability to take, develop and 'mount' accurate, high quality radiographs/intra-oral photos.
• Clean, sterilize and prepare the equipment and operatory, prior to and after a patient’s appointment.
• Track the incoming and outgoing lab cases, monitor and order dental supplies.
• Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance, follow safety policies and procedures through OSHA compliance and BBP (Blood-borne Pathogens) Ability to multi-task and remain calm in a rapidly changing environment.
• Assist in educating the patients and address their questions and/or concerns to help them feel more comfortable.
• Assist the business administrative team in scheduling patients and submitting referrals as clinically necessary.
• Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new programs.

Qualifications

Education/Certification(s)

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required
• Current radiography certification required.
• Active Dental Assistant/ CDA/ EFDA/ EDDA/ QDA license, as required by state
• Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR- BLS) preferredCurrent certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Analgesia preferredas required by state, or ability to become certified.
