Job summary

The Emergency Department Technician II at MUSC provides nursing support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing multi-skilled care to patients within the ED and supporting a patient-centered approach to outcomes.

Education: High school diploma or GED; Experience: 1 year in ED Tech I or CNA/EMT; Credentials: BLS within 2 weeks of hire; Shift: Day, 36 hours weekly.

• At least 1 year of ED Technician I (.6fte) or CNA/EMT experience, or hospital inpatient experience.

Job Description

Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice. Provide patient/family centered care using the nursing process and focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs. This includes providing for the assessment, development of nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, planning, implementation of interventions, coordination of care, health teaching and promotion and evaluation of goals and interventions consistent with the policies of MUSC. Additional Job Description

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Experience: At least 1 year in a .6fte ED Technician I position at MUSC or a Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, CMA, Paramedic, Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), or a military medical occupation; or at least 1 year of in patient hospital experience;or a college degree, or active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution; or active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution. Credentials: Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
