Position: ED Technician - Full Time 7P-7A, EOW

Reports to: Director of Emergency Department

Revision Date: 9/21/2023

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Emergency Department's Clinical Director, or their designee, perform various duties assisting in the care and treatment of Emergency Department patients, their families, and visitors.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Obtain patients' vital signs and place patients on cardiac monitors.
  2. Perform EKGs.
  3. Prepare patients for exams.
  4. Assist with medical setup for various procedures.
  5. Compile all medical paperwork from patients' visits for medical records.
  6. Measure and fit patients with orthopedic supplies.
  7. Draw blood.
  8. Collect specimens.
  9. Clean and stock rooms.
  10. Handle telephone information requests with courtesy, accuracy, and respect for patient confidentiality.
  11. Contact other hospitals and specialty providers when requested.
  12. Arrange medical transport when needed.
  13. Assist in transporting Behavioral Health patients as directed/needed.
  14. Transport patients to different areas of the hospital.
  15. Perform CPR.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities (Unit Specific):

  1. Proficient in typing and basic computer knowledge required.
  2. Able to multitask.
  3. Able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED is required. Previous patient care experience strongly preferred. Current CPR certification preferred. Valid NYS Driver's license is required.

Working Conditions:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Moving, lifting, or transferring of patients may involve lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assisting with weights of more than one hundred (100) pounds, fine motor skills, visual acuity.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay Range: $16.65 - $19.98/hr

Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
