Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Queens is hiring Emergency Department Technicians for a Part Time Night FLEX position. The ED Tech assists with basic patient care, telemetry monitoring, EKGs, and daily living activities under RN supervision.

Shift is 22.5 hours/week (7pm–8:15am) with rotating weekends and holidays, based at NYP Queens. Requirements include a high school diploma, current BLS, 1+ year experience in related roles, and EKG/Arrhythmia, Medical Technician, or EMT/Paramedic certificates are

• At least 1 year experience as an EKG Technician, Nursing Attendant or equivalent.
• Certifications in EKG/Arrhythmia, Medical Technician, or EMT/Paramedic are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care and assist with daily living activities underRN supervision.
• Collect data, monitor vital signs, telemetry, and assist with EKGs and finger-stick glucose.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and support team relationships.

Emergency Department Technicians (Patient Care Techs) – Part Time Night Flex

At NewYork-Presbyterian Queens,ED Technicians thrive as invaluable care providers. As a designated 911 receiving hospital, our ED has achieved the highest distinction given by the American College of Surgeons and is now one of only a few Level I Trauma Centers in the New York region providing around-the-clock access to a trauma surgeon, operating room as well as every subspecialty of surgery available.

As an ED Technician, you will provide compassionate basic patient care and assist with daily living activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. You will collect data elements and communicate observations and information obtained using various methods and tools to the Registered Nurse (including but not limited to vital signs, surveillance of telemetry, perform EKG’s, glucose by finger stick). Improve the patient experience and maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment.Demonstrate what it means to be part of a team and raise the bar for patient care.

This is a Part Time Night FLEX Shift (22.5 hrs/wk; 7pm to 8:15 am) position at NYP/Queens Hospital. Rotating Weekends & Holidays.

Required Criteria

High School Diploma or Equivalency

Current BLS certification from American Heart Association required PRIOR to start date

At least one (1) year experience as an EKG Technician, Nursing Attendant or equivalent

Certification in one of the following required:

• EKG/Arrhythmia certificate
• Medical technician certificate
• EMT/ Paramedic certificate

Must achieve competency in all performance functions (i.e. Telemetry, phlebotomy,) within probationary period

Salary Range:

$33.67-$36.01/Hourly
