Job summary

GWU Hospital, a 385-bed tertiary academic medical center in downtown Washington, DC, seeks an Emergency Room Technician to provide care to assigned patients under supervision. The role requires EMT certification, NR-EMT exam completion, 1 year ED or EMS experience, and current BLS certification.

Strong communication, medical terminology knowledge, and English fluency are essential; a commitment to patient care and our Every Moment Matters culture is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency.
• EMT course that meets National EMS standards preferred.
• NR-EMT cognitive and psychomotor exam completion (Basic/Int/Paramedic).
• 1 year of ER experience or 1 year as primary EMS provider/military equivalent.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC.
• Fluent English – spoken and written.

Qualification

• High School diploma or equivalency
• Successful completion of a state-approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course that meets or exceeds the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for the Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
• Successful completion of the cognitive and psychomotor exam for the National Registry of EMTs at a Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic level
• 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience as an emergency room technician or at least one year of experience as a primary EMS field provider or military equivalent
• BLS through American Heart Association, American Red Cross
• Able to speak and write English Fluently

• Demonstrated communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
