Job summary

ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to support patient care under licensed supervision. You will assist with clinical tasks, patient transport, and a safe, clean environment in a fast-paced ED setting.

The role requires 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a), every 3rd weekend, and credentialed healthcare experience or active nursing student status with BLS. This is a great opportunity to grow in a busy level IV/Chest Pain Center ED.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or preferred.
• One year healthcare experience.
• State of Wisconsin EMT-B or CNA certification or current nursing student.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Receives direction and assignments from licensed team members and provides technical support to optimize patient care.
• Reports on the condition of the patient to the appropriate licensed team members to ensure safe, quality patient care.
• Completes documentation based on procedures and care provided to ensure an accurate and complete medical record.
• Reinforces patient education under the direction of licensed team members to ensure the continuum of care.
• Assists with patient transport to other departments as appropriate.
• Assists in maintaining a safe environment by cleaning equipment, stocking supplies, and turning over rooms as required.

Job Summary

The Emergency Department Technician performs a variety of functions in support of patient care under close/general supervision by licensed team members (RN, APC, or physician).

Schedule

(1) 12- hour NIGHT shift (7p-7a) Every 3rd weekend required Holiday rotation

Key Accountabilities

• Must be 18 years of age
• One year applicable healthcare experience
• State of Wisconsin EMT-B, State of Wisconsin CNA Certification or current nursing student.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

Physical Demands

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance.

Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties.

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock

Occasional high noise level in work environment

Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents

Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients

Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.
