Job summary

Baystate Health's Emergency Department in Springfield, MA seeks a Registered Nurse to join our team for overnight shifts. Under the Nurse Manager's supervision, the RN delivers direct patient care, assesses needs, plans and evaluates care, and collaborates with the health team to meet regulatory standards.

This full-time role offers 36 hours weekly, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, rotating holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, tuition assistance, career growth, and retirement

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 months of clinical RN experience in acute care.
• Massachusetts RN license required.
• New grad RNs may be considered for ED openings.

Responsibilities

• Perform age-appropriate patient assessments and document plans of care.

• Administer medications and treatments per policy.

Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager, the Professional Nurse practices within the Professional Practice Model, the MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice, and Code of Ethics and demonstrates Baystate Health's core values.

The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for the patient's plan of care and is accountable for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN provides care directly to patients and in collaboration with other healthcare team members while maintaining current knowledge and skill with technical procedures and applicable regulatory and accrediting standards.

The Registered Nurse (RN) Will:

• Conduct accurate, age-appropriate clinical assessments; identify and prioritize patient and family needs; and develop, implement, evaluate, and document individualized plans of care.
• Recognize acute changes in patient status and intervene appropriately.
• Safely manage assigned patients and families through effective organization, delegation, collaboration, medication administration, and treatments according to policy and procedure.
• Develop and document patient and family education plans using appropriate resources.
• Use standards, policies, procedures, and appropriate resources to support clinical decision-making and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
• Provide compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic care while respecting patient and family dignity, privacy, and participation in care.
• Develop comprehensive discharge plans using appropriate resources and referrals, and collaborate with patients and families regarding discharge planning.
• Participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds, shared governance, unit decision-making, annual competencies, mandatory education, and professional development.
