Job summary

California State University, Sacramento invites applications for the Director of the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership program within the College of Education. The Director will lead recruiting, budget oversight, scheduling, and governance, while teaching at least one Ed.D.

course annually and chairing dissertations. The Ed.D.

Qualifications

• Have a doctoral degree in educational leadership, educational policy, educational administration, or a related field.
• Be tenured or hold or have held a faculty or academic‑administrative appointment at a college or university.
• Show evidence of successful teaching as demonstrated through teaching statement, course evaluations, and other relevant material.
• Have a record of scholarship in educational leadership or policy/administration commensurate with career stage.
• Demonstrate effective leadership, interpersonal communication, and governance experience.
• Demonstrate experience with budget development and management.
• Evidence of fundraising and engaging multiple stakeholders.
• Experience recruiting and advising graduate students, including chairing theses/dissertations.
• Commitment to diversity, social justice, equity, on a multicultural campus.
• Ability to lead strategic planning and data-driven program improvement.

Responsibilities

• Program recruiting and admissions; budget development and oversight.
• Scheduling classes and instructor assignments; regular faculty meetings.
• Serving on program committees; managing the Ed.D. Office and daily tasks.
• Ensuring Ed.D. Faculty Handbook provisions are followed.
• As a faculty member, teach at least one Ed.D. course per year and chair at least one dissertation per year.
• Maintain an active research and publication agenda; advise doctoral students; provide service to program and university.
