Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Special Education Assistant - ECSE Blend to assist the classroom teacher in supporting students with disabilities. The role focuses on physical and instructional support, including self-help, behavior management, and implementing instructional programs.

You will work under the supervision of a certified teacher and a principal, helping prepare instructional materials, monitor student progress, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with children preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Good communication with staff, students, and families.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with the instructional program under the direct supervision of a certified teacher by adapting to each student's needs.
• Assist the teacher in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transferring to/from wheelchairs.
• Attend to students with physical needs and personal care including feeding and hygiene.
• Help manage the behavior of students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
• Work with individuals or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises.
• Report to the teacher any special needs or problems of individual student.
• Assist assessment team by administering achievement and development tests.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground duty.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Maintain confidentiality and participate in staff development activities.
