Job summary

International Monetary Fund is seeking dynamic Research Analysts with strong quantitative skills to support data gathering, econometric analysis, and staff reporting. The role involves building and maintaining databases, writing programs for analysis, and contributing to research projects within a collaborative team.

The position is a contractual appointment for one year, renewable up to four, based in the metropolitan Washington, D.C.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science or related quantitative field; Master’s preferred.
• Two years of relevant work experience in a similar role.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, including basic functions and formula.
• Proficiency with analytical, statistical and econometric software packages such as STATA, EViews, R, TSP, SPSS, Matlab and SAS.

Responsibilities

• Compiles statistical data, compares and evaluates alternative data sources, and ensures consistency of series and definitions.
• Computes data using statistical and econometric techniques and develops summary analyses with tables and charts.
• Develops and maintains cross-country databases in line with IMF data management requirements.
• Maintains software and writes/updates programs for statistical and econometric analysis.
• Initiates econometric analyses to support papers and publications.
• Participates in research projects and drafts notes on relevant issues.
• Interacts with country authorities, academia, or financial institutions as needed.
