Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. in Austin is seeking an Ecological Senior Professional to grow our ecological practice. You will lead projects, develop business through your network, and collaborate with staff ecologists.

The role requires a strong background in ecology, long-term client development, and experience with EPA, USACE, and USFWS regulations. Local presence in Austin with ability to market to public sector, energy, and real estate markets.

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S. degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or related technical field.
• Local and national contacts and the ability to market to new and existing clients.
• 15+ years of experience in aquatic ecology; endangered species consultation; or environmental permitting and reporting; knowledge of relevant regulations.
• Proven client development and management experience to expand services to public sector, energy, oil & gas, manufacturing, mining, and real estate markets.
• Ability to provide senior technical expertise and mentoring to staff and managers in the ecological practice.
• Experience working with state and federal regulators (EPA, USACE, USFWS).
• PWS certification, GIS proficiency, local permitting experience, familiarity with Austin development codes, NEPA and FERC projects (plus).

Job Overview

CEC is seeking an Ecological Senior Professional to help grow our Ecological Practice in the Austin office.

Responsibilities

• Develop business for CEC through utilization of your existing network and internal CEC resources.
• Collaborate with staff ecologists and lead projects.

Required Qualifications

• B.S./M.S. degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or related technical field
• Local and national contacts and the ability to develop and market to new and existing clients
• 15+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: aquatic ecology; threatened and endangered species consultation; or environmental permitting and reporting, including knowledge of the City of Austin Environmental Criteria Manual and experience with Environmental Resource Inventories and Floodplain Health Assessments, TCEQ regulations and experience with Geologic Assessments, and Section 401, 402, 404 Federal Clean Water Act Regulations
• Demonstrated client development and management experience to assist in expanding the delivery of our services to the public sector, energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, mining, and real estate markets
• Ability to provide senior technical expertise and mentoring to staff and managers in the ecological practice
• Experience working with state and federal regulators and demonstrated understanding of regulations from agencies such as EPA, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus

• Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification
• Proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS)
• Permitting experience with the City of Austin and Travis County
• Familiarity with Austin’s Land Development Code, Section 25-8-121 and Title 30-5 and Edwards Aquifer rules (Title 30 TAC Chapter 213)
• Experience with NEPA and FERC projects
