Ecological Restoration Summer Internship

River Partners’ helps local communities reconnect and revitalize floodplains and river landscapes across California. We are a private, non‑profit organization with offices in Chico, Sacramento, Turlock, and San Diego. At the Chico office, interns work on habitat restoration projects on the Sacramento and Feather Rivers.

Responsibilities

• Hike and gather plant and wildlife data to support habitat restoration planning.
• Monitor vegetation under Central Valley heat conditions and conduct data entry and management.
• Complete a self‑directed research project on riparian restoration.
• Work independently, follow directions, and maintain strong work ethic while handling strenuous fieldwork.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a student pursuing a degree in biology, natural resources, or a related field.
• Eligible to work in the United States and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Able to ambulate over rough terrain in temperatures exceeding 90°F.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Preferred: knowledge of native and invasive riparian plants and wildlife; experience with handheld GPS units, GIS software (ArcPad/ArcGIS), and Excel data entry.
• Prior field experience desirable but not required.

Compensation and Schedule

Paid internship for eight weeks during the summer of 2020. 40 hours per week. Commencing early morning workdays starting at 6 a.m. are common.
