About Us

The Virgin Islands Conservation Society (VICS) is the oldest non-profit conservation organization in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Our mission is to promote the conservation and restoration of island ecosystems, sustainable development, and awareness of conservation issues. We strive to protect our islands, fostering community resilience and preserving our natural resources for a sustainable future. We believe in working with local conservation-related organizations and community members to build capacity and address common challenges and opportunities within the Territory. Join us in safeguarding the Virgin Islands’ beauty and vitality!

The Eco-Schools Program is the world’s largest international environmental education program engaging students, faculty, administrators and community volunteers in a comprehensive, environment‑based program to improve student environmental literacy and skills. In addition to direct environmental benefits, the program helps to dramatically improve student skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM). It also promotes youth leadership and community service. The Virgin Islands Conservation Society is the USVI delegate to run Eco-Schools programming. Eco-Schools offers hands‑on learning opportunities and supports inquiry‑based education, critical thinking, use of technology and problem solving. The Eco-Schools model enhances content and teaching methods while engaging the students in a positive transformation of their physical, social, and mental learning environments, while also providing improved aesthetics to schools and school campuses.
