Job summary

The VIOS Clinic in Gainesville, FL seeks an ECMO Specialist to operate, monitor, and troubleshoot the ECMO program under the ECMO Coordinator.

Preferred candidates hold RT or RN licensure with 2+ years ICU experience and BLS/PALS/ACLS, with ECMO training a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor ECMO circuit safely and effectively.

  • Perform quality control and preventive maintenance.
  • Respond to crises and emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with transport of ECMO patients as required.

Job description

The ECMO Specialist is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the ECMO program under the guidance of the ECMO Coordinator.

They ensure ECMO circuit function, integrity, and safety, including administering blood products and medications accurately for a diverse patient population.

Collaborating with bedside nurses, they monitor patient perfusion, acid-base balance, and hemodynamic stability within prescribed parameters, and may manage CRRT when connected to ECMO.

Key duties include performing technical skills, quality control, preventive maintenance, and responding to crises and emergencies.

The role involves ongoing education, quality improvement efforts, and supporting other departments as needed.

Participation in transportation of ECMO patients is also required.

Qualifications include a current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or Nurse, minimum two years ICU experience, and certifications in BLS, PALS, and ACLS. Preferred candidates have ECMO-specific training and experience.
