Job summary

Frye Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking an Echocardiology Technologist to join our team and contribute to high-quality patient care in a 355-bed acute care facility.

This role emphasizes patient education, teamwork, and a commitment to safety while performing echocardiography procedures and delivering excellent service to the community.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• Current Echo Registry license required.
• Echo registry eligible within one year of employment or transfer.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Review patient history and physician orders.
• Educate patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure cooperation.
• Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Monitor patient condition and respond to changes as appropriate.
• Prepare equipment and supplies; select exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Implement safety standards and perform quality control on equipment.
• Troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Position patient and perform imaging procedures.
• Analyze results and address image quality issues; reimage if needed.
• Enter, transmit and report scan results.

Essential Functions:

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedures. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Education/ Certification

• Associate's Degree required
• Certification: BLS
• Licenses: Current Echo Registry
• Echo certification registered or registry eligible within one year of employment or transfer into position.
