  • The Internal Traveler Program is an opportunity for healthcare professionals to explore the boundless possibilities at UVA Health. Internal Traveler positions are:

The Role

As a Cardiac Sonographer in the Echocardiography Lab, you will operate at the intersection of advanced imaging technology and patient‑centered care. This is a dynamic, fast‑paced clinical environment where precision, collaboration, and adaptability are essential.

On a typical day, you will:

  • Perform comprehensive echocardiographic studies, including transthoracic and stress imaging, producing diagnostically accurate results
  • Collaborate closely with cardiologists, fellows, and interdisciplinary care teams to support clinical decision‑making
  • Ensure image quality optimization and protocol adherence, maintaining the highest standards of diagnostic excellence

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Must meet the education requirement for Echocardiography Sonographer certification with either CCI or ARDMS; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience: No experience required; 2 years relevant experience preferred

Licensure: RCS or RDCS with CCI or RCVT with ARDMS certification within 12 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, and traveling, driving (occasionally for outreach clinics); reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: Manipulation of ultrasound transducer. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, radiation, and blood/body fluids disease.

The pay rate for this role is $72.00 hourly. This position is compensated at a fixed rate. Compensation is established in accordance with the position's approved pay structure.
