Our team and state-of-the-art programs create a world-class health care organization and the destination center for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular care with complex structural heart disease and interventions, advanced heart failure service as well as advanced imaging with cutting edge technologies.**FTE: .01 Per Diem, Shift: Days, Schedule: Days****Position Summary**The Echocardiographer (cardiac sonographer) is responsible for obtaining high quality recordings of ultrasound images of the heart and related structures for the cardiologist who will interpret the examination. This is a technical position requiring a highly skilled operator with knowledge of the various types of ultrasound procedures. Work situations require clinical interpretive knowledge, independent judgment, initiative, and ingenuity in performing procedures. External contacts include patients, family members, and physicians. Internal contacts are basically within the work group.**Responsibilities:*** Performs echocardiographic studies on adult and pediatric patients* Completes the echocardiography worksheet with quantitative calculations, measurements, and descriptive information acquired while performing the study on each patient* Performs clerical procedures, to include scheduling, answering phones, filing, notification of interpreting cardiologists, preliminary report circulation, material stocking, data basing, and charging* Performs cleaning and maintenance of ultrasound and other equipment* Knowledge of and a thorough understanding of the physical principles of ultrasound and ultrasound systems* Knowledge of cardiac abnormalities in order to produce diagnostic echocardiograms* Skill in the performance of the technique so as to produce complete anatomic and functional information for the interpreting cardiologist* Skill in making quantitative calculations from echocardiograph data obtained while performing the study* Skill in interacting and communicating with fellow employees, physicians and patients* Skill in the techniques of CPR* Skill in good oral, written and interpersonal communication, grammar and spelling* Ability to perform routine quality checks on ultrasound equipment* Ability to work efficiently under pressure* Ability to work independently and take initiative* Ability to set priorities and use good judgment* Ability to share on-call hours evening and weekends and be able to work overtime in emergency situations**Requirements:*** Registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers with a specialty Registration of Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographers (RDCS); If RDCS registry eligible, must receive RDCS certification within 12 months of hire or transfer* Registered with Cardiovascular Credentialing International as Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) may be substituted for RDCS with the expectation of obtaining ARDMS registry within 12 months of hire or transfer* BLS - Basic Life Support (includes RQI) - American Heart Association or American Red Cross* Previous experience as an Echocardiographer preferred**Why Pulse Heart Institute?** **Physician-led care** Led by physicians and advanced practice providers who understand patient needs firsthand, ensuring decisions are grounded in clinical expertise and collaboration. **Proven excellence** Pulse units across MultiCare earned the 2025 Chest Pain – MI RegistryTM Platinum Performance Achievement Award — the only facilities in Washington to receive this distinction. **Comprehensive cardiovascular care** A fully integrated model across cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery and vascular services, supporting the full continuum of care. **People-first culture** We invest in our teams through professional development, supportive leadership and an environment where caregivers can learn, grow and succeed. **Well-being and support** Resources and programs designed to help you maintain balance and feel supported in your work and life. **Pacific Northwest lifestyle** Work and live where natural beauty, adventure and strong community connections are part of everyday life. **Pay and Benefit Expectations**We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $48.33 - $79.86 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
