Job summary

Citrus Cardiology Consultants, P.L.L.C. is seeking an Echocardiograph Technologist (Echo Tech) to support physicians by delivering clear, accurate cardiac images and providing patient-centered care in our clinic.

The Echo Tech will perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, adjust imaging parameters, and ensure data accuracy in the EMR while collaborating with physicians. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for delivering high-quality patient experiences.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited echocardiography or ultrasound program.
• Associate's degree in Echocardiography/Ultrasound/Medical Sonography, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Prior imaging tech experience with cardiac sonography preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic echocardiography using ultrasound techniques.
• Produce diagnostic images with Doppler, abdominal, carotid, and other modalities.
• Explain procedures to patients and ensure comfort and cooperation.
• Input and maintain test data in the electronic medical record system.
• Assist physicians during bubble studies and invasive procedures.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment.
• Monitor quality control to ensure diagnostic accuracy and protocol compliance.
• Mentor and orient new staff; support departmental education.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulations.
• Prepare preliminary ultrasound reports for physician review.

Job description

The Echocardiograph Technologist (Echo Tech) supports physicians by providing clear, accurate cardiac images that help diagnose and monitor heart conditions. Echo Techs combine technical skill with patient care, working directly with patients to explain procedures, promote comfort, and ensure safe, efficient exams in our clinic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform diagnostic procedures utilizing prescribed ultrasound techniques, including strain imaging.
• Produce diagnostic images using Doppler, abdominal, carotid, and other ultrasound modalities.
• Select appropriate transducers and adjust imaging parameters based on examination requirements, organ depth, and patient body type.
• Explain procedures to patients, ensuring understanding, comfort, and cooperation throughout the examination.
• Input and maintain accurate test data, patient information, and scan results in the electronic medical record system.
• Assist physicians during bubble studies and invasive procedures.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment to ensure accuracy and optimal performance.
• Monitor and document quality control measures to ensure high diagnostic accuracy and compliance with protocols.
• Apply knowledge of age-specific needs and conditions in patient care practices.
• Mentor and orient new staff, supporting departmental education and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, legal regulations, and institutional policies.
• Assist with transporting patients to and from the imaging area as needed.
• Follow standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment appropriately.
• Prepare preliminary ultrasound reports for physician review.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Completion of an accredited echocardiography or ultrasound technology program.
• Associate's degree in Echocardiography, Ultrasound, Medical Sonography, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Previous experience as an imaging tech with cardiac sonography experience preferred
• Successful in an environment where there is indirect management
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

• Current state licensure or permit to practice medical imagining; Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), RDCS, etc. required.
• RVT or RVS license preferred
• BLS & ACLS certification Preferred
