Northeast Georgia Health System in Georgia is seeking a Vascular Technologist who performs vascular ultrasound procedures with independent judgment to support physician interpretation.

You will assess patients across adolescent to geriatric ages, participate in on-call coverage, maintain equipment, and document findings to support accurate diagnoses. NGHS fosters education, certification support, and collaborative care across a busy vascular lab.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Additionally, an Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is preferred.
  • RV T or Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography in vascular field is required per licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessment of vascular patients.
  • Communicates assessment findings to the physician and documents changes.
  • Meets department productivity standards and prioritizes acute needs.
  • Participates in test interpretation and submits readings to the physician.
  • Inputs patient charges accurately in the system.
  • Maintains patient comfort before, during, and after procedures.

Job Summary

Performs various vascular ultrasound procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to provide reliable diagnostic information for Physician interpretation. Must have a good knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology. Must provides care/service that meets the development needs of patients ranging in age from adult to geriatric. The Vascular Technologist complies with standards of practice; assists with patient care activities; helps maintain supplies and equipment; and collaborates with other healthcare team members in response to patient and family needs. Required to take call in order to contribute to the coverage of Emergent Vascular procedures that occur during off‑hours. The number of call shifts required per week will be determined by the Manager and will be based on department needs. Needs good communication and interpersonal skills. This position will care for patients in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups.

Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Licensure or other certifications: RVT or Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography in field of Vascular.
  • BLS Certification
  • Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.

  • Knowledge of methods, techniques and operating principles involved in the operation of various ultrasound equipment.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient while in vascular department.
  • Communicates and documents the assessment findings and reports changes in patient’s condition to the appropriate Physician.
  • Meets productivity standards defined by the department.
  • Prioritizes work load by addressing acute needs first.
  • Participates in the evaluation of tests by creating the appropriate reports and records as a result of the diagnostic procedure.
  • Participates in the initial interpretation of non‑invasive vascular studies and submits to reading Physician.
  • Accurately inputs data in computer to charge/credit patient generated charges.
  • Documents any pertinent patient information for reading physician to evaluate.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities as assigned.
  • Maintains records for IAC accreditation requirements.
  • Communicates any pertinent patient information to appropriate Physician/Nurse.
  • Reports any problems to department Supervisor immediately.
  • Assures patient comfort pre‑, intra‑, and post‑ procedure.
  • Assist patient with ambulation and positioning as needed.
  • Maintains supplies clean patient rooms.
  • Ensures that equipment is clean and working properly.
