Job summary

Phelps Memorial Health Center seeks a skilled Echo/Vascular Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including echocardiology and vascular ultrasound, for patients of all ages. Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved technology program in echocardiography or related cross-training.
  • Current BLS certification; ARDMS accreditation in Echo and Vascular is required.

Responsibilities

  • Explain procedures to reduce patient anxiety and ensure cooperation.

SUMMARY

The Echo/Vascular Technologist operates diagnostic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for patients of all ages for diagnosis and treatment. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation: Performs diagnostic imaging procedures in the following areas:Echocardiology andVascular ultrasoundAssesses data regarding customers procedure based on age and condition.Explains and instructs customer to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.Provides and instructs customer and/or families, or significant others wit information appropriate for age and learning abilities.Operates diagnostic imaging equipment according to manufacturers specifications.Properly attains diagnostic image for interpretation and diagnosis.Maintains diagnostic imaging equipment according to manufacturers specifications.Confers with members of radiology staff and other health team members individually and in conference to exchange, discuss, and evaluate customer information for planning, modifying, and coordinating radiological exams.Maintains and replenishes departmental suppliesCompletes all necessary information for interpretation of diagnostic images.Transports customer safely to and from department.Confers with radiologist or cardiologist on image quality.Assists in scheduling & paperwork procedures.Reports equipment failures to appropriate person for repair.Assists in date collection for Quality Assurance/Improvement.Assists in orientation of new technologists and students.Greets guests promptly and courteously.Presents a professional, pleasant and positive image.Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.Responsible for personal development & continuing education compliance.Responsible for rotation of department coverage duties.Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports directly to the Director of Cardiovascular Services.

The level of risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens is Classification (I), as outlined in the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program Policy. The noise level in the work environment is usually high.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Completion and degree from approved Technology program or related cross-training experience.

COMPETENCIES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Required Current BLS certification.ARDMS accreditation in Echo and Vascular
