Job summary

Qualifications

  • ARDMS or CCI certification is required.

Job description

Overview We are looking for an experienced echocardiography technologist to provide high quality echocardiographic studies at Penn Medicine. He/she will perform studies, analyze results, and maintain quality records under the supervision of attending physicians and the Echo Lab manager.

Summary
  • The incumbent will provide high quality echocardiographic studies, including all services that the department provides to ensure patient health, safety and well being. Accurate analysis and evaluation of all studies will be provided to interpreting physician for review. Will fulfill responsibility to HUP by adherence to hospital and department policies and procedures while pursuing goals for professional growth.
Responsibilities
  • Verify patient identification prior to initiating study.
  • Monitor patient's behavior and general physical condition to ensure continued stability and assess study effects.
  • Prepare supplies and set up echocardiographic equipment for scheduled studies.
  • Perform echocardiographic studies according to ASE and department guidelines.
  • Analyze and evaluate results of studies for review by interpreting physician and or department manager.
  • Monitor testing equipment and environment to ensure quality of tests and safety.
  • Compile records and maintain files on all tests performed.
  • Schedule echocardiograms effectively to provide efficient and quality services.
  • Organize personal work activities to ensure timely completion.
  • Continuously develop skills in operation of sophisticated instruments and computers.
  • Adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures while pursuing professional growth.
  • Review daily schedule for supplies and equipment needs.
  • Perform routine equipment checks to prevent malfunctions.
  • Store equipment and peripherals appropriately.
  • Know lab emergency procedure routine and location of supplies.
  • Initiate calls or contact resources for emergency services.
  • Provide or direct emergency assistance as required.
  • Act as resource for equipment.
  • Improve clinical effectiveness through quality improvement process.
  • Participate in evidence-based research utilization.
  • Participate in unit or entity committees and programs.
  • Participate in professional technical organizations.
Credentials
  • ARDMS or CCI (Required)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
  • Radiologic Science and/or related field such as biology or 2+ years Clinical experience in a IAC accredited Echo Lab
