Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in the Puget Sound region seeks an Echo Tech/Sonographer to perform diagnostic echocardiography and capture high-quality cardiac images, ensuring patient comfort and precise data for diagnosis and treatment.

You will operate ultrasound equipment, review patient history, maintain equipment, and collaborate with physicians to provide exceptional diagnostic services across all ages.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Sonography.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of echocardiography experience.
  • Certification in Cardiac Sonography preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients and performs ultrasound tests based on physicians’ orders to obtain accurate cardiac images.
  • Queries patient history and uses equipment and techniques to ensure consistent results.
  • Maintains equipment, performs calibration and cleaning; delivers patient care for all ages.
  • Acts as liaison between patient and physician and documents results.
  • Alerts nursing staff to significant changes during procedures and compiles data for interpretation.
  • Reviews clinical data for physician interpretation of echo records.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Echo Tech/Sonographer, you will perform diagnostic echocardiography procedures to assist in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions.

Every day you will operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality cardiac images and data, ensuring patient comfort and performing a range of echocardiographic studies.

To be successful, you will possess a strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, proficient technical skills, and effective communication abilities to provide exceptional diagnostic services.

  • Prepares patients and performs ultrasound tests based on physicians’ orders and in adherence to department protocols to obtain the correct, cross sectional anatomy and detail of a requested scan area. Explains procedures to patients and responds to questions;

  • Queries each patient or reviews each chart/ or on line medical record for pertinent history. Utilizes equipment/accessories and employs techniques/procedures to comfort and protect the patient and ensure that results are consistent.

  • Per manufacturer’s guidelines/instructions, performs equipment maintenance, calibration and cleaning. Delivers patient care for all age groups while performing ultrasound exams/procedures and/or special procedures.

  • Acts as a liaison between the patient and the physician. Regularly performs basic functions in regard to patient care.

  • Responds to emergency situations consistent with scope of authority. Maintains accurate patient records by documenting the patient chart with pertinent information.

  • Advises nursing staff of any significant change in patient’s condition during the procedure. Reviews and compiles clinical data in accordance with departmental deadlines for physician interpretation of echo records.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Other Graduate from an accredited school of Sonography. and 1-3 years Minimum of one year experience in Echocardiography., upon hire or

  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI, upon hire or

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, upon hire and

  • Basic Life Support (through AHA) - CPR, upon hire

Preferred
  • Other Echo Tech Non-Registered: Employees who do not have ARDMS registration (but who otherwise meet the qualifications for the "core" job) must be assigned to this level, and they have a period of one year from the date of hire to obtain it., 12 - months and

  • 1-3 years Minimum of two years in Cardiology procedures as a Cardiovascular tech, upon hire

Pay Range

$51.69 - $89.16 /hour
