Job summary

Baptist Health in Kentucky is seeking an Echocardiography Technician to perform and supervise echocardiograms, schedule tests, maintain equipment, prepare patients, and ensure accurate measurements and proper billing. You will consult with physicians, file exams, and help set educational guidelines and staffing.

The role requires graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Sciences/Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with cardiac emphasis; RDCS(R) or RCS certification is required, or

• Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Sciences/Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with cardiac emphasis.
• RDCS(AE) or RCS certification required.
• If registry eligible, must obtain within two years of employment.
• BCLS required.

Responsibilities

• Schedule echocardiography tests and maintain equipment.
• Prepare patients and perform exams with proficient, timely measurements.
• Consult with physicians and disposition exams, with proper filing and billing.
• Assist in teaching new echocardiographic techniques and participate in departmental policy development.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend call rotation; provide inpatient and outpatient services.

Education

Job description

Performs the duties necessary to provide echocardiograms. This includes scheduling tests, maintenance of equipment, preparation of patient, performing the exam in a proficient, timely manner to include appropriate measurements, consultation with physician, disposition of exams, filing and proper billing. Maintains clinical competencies of Echocardiography Lab. Demonstrates ability to teach new echocardiographic techniques. During echo exam perform additional diagnostic techniques of echocardiography as demonstrated necessary by exam findings. Assists in performance evaluations of Echo technicians. Assists in the development of educational guidelines, departmental policies, procedures, future direction, yearly budget and helps maintain appropriate staffing levels. Attends meetings as requested. Participates in after hours and weekend call rotation. Provides inpatient and outpatient services in the hospital and clinic setting

• High School Graduate or GED required
• Graduation from an accredited school of Cardiovascular Sciences/Diagnostic Medical Sonography with special emphasis in cardiac sonography preferred.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS(AE) from American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required.
• If hired as “Registry eligible” must obtain within two years of employment.
• BCLS required.
