Job summary

Charles River Medical Associates in Framingham, MA is seeking a per diem Registered Cardiac Sonographer/Echo Tech to perform high-quality echocardiograms at our Framingham facility with a satellite in Marlborough. Weekdays first shift; flexibility with hours and ability to manage a fast-paced environment.

2-3 years experience preferred, new grads considered. Requires current licensure as a registered cardiac sonographer and ARDCS or CCI credential; associate degree or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a registered cardiac sonographer.
  • Minimum of associate degree (or equivalent with Cardiovascular Technologist Certificate) with ARDCS or CCI credential.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in echocardiography field.
  • Understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology and hemodynamics required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive and high-quality echocardiogram.
  • Must interact effectively with patients and staff to ensure smooth lab flow.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment and report malfunctions.
  • Produce preliminary interpretations for referring physicians.
  • Obtain accurate measurements and write timely preliminary reports.

Description

This is a per diem for a Registered Cardiac Sonographer/Echo Tech. Our main facility is in Framingham, and we operate a satellite in Marlborough. Weekdays first shift.

2-3 years experience preferred, New Grads will be considered. Salary Commensurate with experience

Knowledge of echo policies & procedures, protocols, equipment operation, and positioning techniques. The ability to handle multiple tasks/projects in an ethical and professional manner. Is able to communicate, in an effective manner, and coordinate the daily operations of the department/practice to include any changes. Flexibility with hours. Ability to maintain effective interdisciplinary working relationships.

  • Perform comprehensive and high-quality echocardiogram
  • Must possess manual dexterity sufficient to work with ultrasound transducer and delicate panels on equipment.
  • Must have a good understanding of equipment function, which isimportant, because technology is changing very rapidly.
  • Must have the ability to interact with understanding with patients andstaff for smooth lab flow and genuine cooperation.
  • Flexibility is essential here. Technicians also interact with physiciansfor the purpose of information.
  • Must have the ability to distinguish the exact spectrum of colornecessary to perform color flow Doppler’s.
  • Must have a high level of analytical ability to perform complex colorDoppler testing, which requires a professional level of knowledge to
    interpret and analyze test results,
  • Must possess visual acuity to distinguish gradations of color andclosely examine the significance of all cardiac structures to produce adiagnostic scan of the heart.
  • Must have the ability of producing an initial interpretation to thereferring physicians.
  • Must possess a high degree of technical expertise with the knowledgeof cardiac anatomy, physiology and hemodynamics.
  • Obtain the necessary and accurate measurements and write preliminary report in a timely manner.
  • Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information to ensure all appropriate imaging technique will be obtained.
  • Apply independent judgment during the echocardiography examination to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in the examination images. As necessary, acquire additional ultrasound imaging to facilitate optimal diagnostic results for the interpreting physician.
  • Be able to effectively handle emergency situations.
  • Maintain all ultrasound equipment, trouble-shoot minor operating problems and report all malfunctions to appropriate service provider.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety of the patient during the echocardiography examination.
  • Communicate with the patient in a manner appropriate to the patient’s ability to understand.
  • Computer skills are essential and include but are not limited to, lab operating systems, database use, echocardiographic lab reporting software, image archiving and standard office management systems (email, word processing, etc.)
  • Be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Be able to assist patients with limited mobility.
