Beloit Health System seeks an Echo Cardiovascular Technologist to join the Vascular Lab. The role performs echocardiography and peripheral vascular studies for ambulatory and hospital patients, including stress echoes and TEEs, in a collaborative care team.

Independent assessments using ultrasound and related diagnostics, with on-call duties and 40-hour weeks, characterize this full-performance position. Benefits eligible, with sign-on bonus and a dynamic clinical environment.

Qualifications

  • CHAAHEP approved ultrasound program required.
  • ARDMS certification required at time of hire with Echo and/or Vascular specialty.
  • Registered in Echo and Vascular within 1 year of start date.
  • On-call requirement with 45-minute response time.

Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiography and peripheral vascular studies.
  • Conduct stress echoes, TEE's, and other invasive procedures as appropriate.
  • Record results and clinical impressions; communicate to physicians.
  • Place EKG leads for cardiac monitoring during exams.
  • Evaluate hemodynamic significance using imaging modalities per protocols.
  • Perform carotid and venous duplex exams with Doppler.
  • Assist in thrombin injections and intraoperative scanning as needed.

Beloit Health System is seeking a skilled and compassionate Echo Cardiovascular Technologist to join our growing Vascular Lab team. This role offers the opportunity to perform a wide range of advanced cardiac and vascular diagnostic studies while working closely with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams to deliver exceptional patient care.

Shift and schedule details:

  • Sign-On Bonus: Yes
  • Shift: 1st, Varied
  • Schedule: 8 hours shifts between 7a- 5:30p
  • Hours per week: 40 hours per week, call-requirement

This Echo Cardiovascular Technologist position in our vascular lab will perform echocardiography and peripheral vascular studies for ambulatory and hospital patients including stress echo's, TEE's and other invasive procedures.

This Echo Cardiovascular Technologist independently performs professional level assessments and a variety of non-invasive studies using ultrasound and related diagnostic technology as appropriate and records the results and clinical preliminary impressions as indicated.

This Position Is a Full Performance Echo Cardiovascular Technologist Position With Advanced Knowledge Of Cardiac And Peripheral Vascular Anatomy, Physiology, And Disease. In This Position The Echo Cardiovascular Technologist Will

  • Communicate to patient and family members that enhances the patient experience and promotes learning to understand procedures, symptoms, and to support health care outcomes.
  • Review patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical and obtain necessary clinical information from patients and compares requisitions to physicians' orders.
  • Respond to emergency examinations in the department and in the hospital setting to intensive care units, other nursing wards, emergency room, cardiac cath lab, hybrid lab, and operating room.
  • Place EKG leads in appropriate positions for cardiac monitoring during examinations.
  • Evaluate the hemodynamic significance of various cardiac disease states using all imaging modalities available in accordance with the department's protocols.
  • Calculate measurements of echocardiographic structures and Doppler signals, deriving the appropriate indices pertinent to each patient.
  • Operate ultrasound system and assist RN during dobutamine and stress echocardiography.
  • Perform diagnostic vascular examinations according to standardized laboratory protocols; deviating from normal techniques when necessary to provide the best possible results.
  • Perform venous examinations of arms and legs with Doppler and color duplex scanning using compression maneuvers and imaging, for detection of deep vein thrombosis, superficial thrombophlebitis and/or valvular incompetence, which may include mapping of the superficial veins for size and depth.
  • Perform carotid duplex examinations to evaluate blood flow and plaque characteristics in the carotid and vertebral arteries with both real time imaging and spectral analysis using color capabilities.
  • Identify pseudoaneurysms and arterial-venous fistulas with duplex scanning. Under direction, manually apply ultrasound-guided compressions to occlude abnormality.
  • Assist the physician with thrombin injections of pseudoaneurysms, intra-operative scanning, gathering necessary materials and equipment, and properly disposing of used equipment and supplies. Observes sterile fields and techniques used in the operating room.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum: Completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CHAAHEP) approved ultrasound program, Diploma/Associate Degree in Biological Sciences, Radiology, Ultrasound, or relevant health sciences field. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Ultrasound, Radiology, Biological Sciences, or relevant health sciences field.
  • ARDMS required at time of hire, with echocardiography or vascular ultrasound (RCS, RDCS, RVT, or RVS) at time of hire and eligibility to receive the other.
  • Must be registered in both Echo and Vascular within one year of start date.
  • This position does have an on-call requirement with a 45-minute response time.
  • CPR within 3 months of hire.
