Job summary

IU Health in Bloomington seeks an experienced Cardiac Sonography Technologist to perform echocardiography and Doppler studies, provide preliminary data to physicians, and operate recording equipment. The role emphasizes patient-centered care across pediatric to geriatric populations.

Certification in BLS is required; registry eligibility must be achieved within one year (ARDMS/ RDCS or CCI options). Onsite schedule with Monday–Friday shifts and rotation involving on-call weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support certification required.
• Registry eligibility within 1 year: ARDMS/RDCS or CCI/RCS/ACS/RCCS.
• Possible ISDH license depending on role.
• EKG interpretation exam with 85%+ score.

Job description

Overview

Schedule will be Monday - Friday, 3p - 11:30p. On call, weekend, and holiday rotation required.

The Technologist would qualify for shift differentials!

Performs, administers & monitors Cardio-Diagnostic tests with primary emphasis on cardiac sonography and doppler studies. Administers all Cardio-Diagnostic tests. Provides physician with preliminary findings of recorded data through monitoring and performing the necessary calculations, in a timely fashion while demonstrating the appropriate knowledge and skills necessary to work with patients from pediatric through geriatric. Follows physician's instructions, prepares and operates equipment and positions patients correctly in order to record the requested diagnostic images. Treats patients with care and respect.

• Basic Life Support certification required. May also require Advanced Life Support certification, if applicable.
• Applicant must be eligible to sit for their registry at the time of hire and must successfully pass it within one year from start date through one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS): Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, RDCS; or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Registered Cardiac Sonographer, RCS, Advanced Cardiac Sonographer, ACS, or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer, RCCS.
• May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
• May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
• Pass written exam for Basic EKG interpretation with score >85% initially and repeat yearly.
• Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
• Minimum of one year of experience in Echocardiography, preferred.
