Job summary

Adams Lake Indian Band is seeking a Full Time Permanent Early Childhood Educator to join the Sexqeltqin Early Learning Center. The ECE will work under the Director, Early Learning Program to support child care with a culturally aware and collaborative approach, and engage in ongoing professional development.

The role emphasizes curriculum development, nurturing relationships with children and families, and maintaining effective team dynamics while supporting field trips and classroom activities.

Qualifications

  • Valid BC Early Childhood Education Certificate – preference to Infant/Toddler and/or Special Needs certification.
  • Food Safe Certificate (asset).
  • Experience in outdoor education (asset).
  • Strong organization and time management.

Job description

Adams Lake Indian Band is seeking one Full Time Permanent Early Childhood Educator to join the team at the Sexqeltqin Early Learning Center. The Early Childhood Educator will work under the direction of the Director, Early Learning Program to offer assistance with the care of the children. We are currently seeking team members who are committed to being culturally aware, intentional, collaborative, and reflective in their work, and are enthusiastic about on-going professional development.

DUTIES INCLUDE
  • Develop curriculum that aligns with organizational goals, mission, vision and 6 core components of AHSOR
  • Build relationships with children and families through respectful and positive interactions
  • Establish and maintain positive, collaborative and effective team relationships
  • Provide supervision and care of children in and out of the classroom, including field trips
  • Prepares Early Learning materials as directed and assists with projects as well as clean up
  • Other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWELDGE AND SKILLS
  • Valid BC Early Childhood Education Certificate – preference to Infant/Toddler and or Special Needs certification
  • Food Safe Certificate (would be an asset)
  • Experience in outdoor education (would be an asset)
  • Organization and Time Management
OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (REQUIRED DOCUMENTS)
  • Emergency Child Safe/First Aid certificate required
  • Criminal records check with vulnerable sector clearance – with results acceptable to ALIB.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Those normally associated with childcare duties that may involve lifting and carrying children and equipment and may spend time sitting on the floor or on child sized furniture. The ECE will be expected to clean and maintain equipment and facilities and may move throughout the community with children. The ECE may come into contact with children who are ill and/or contagious and must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents and employees.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. They will also be working outdoors daily in all weather conditions.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Full time permanent position

The wage offered will be dependent on education and experience ranging from $30-$33 per hour (inclusive of the Prov. wage enhancement)

Hours per week: 75 hours bi-weekly (max 37.5 hrs./week)
