Job summary

Vaughn Construction seeks an experienced construction supervisor to coordinate field activities, lead crews, and ensure high-quality workmanship on projects across Texas. You will read blueprints, manage resources, and maintain safety and compliance on site.

The role requires 2–4 years in construction with supervisory experience and strong planning, leadership, and communication skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with advanced mechanical skills a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide calculations on hours involved, tons of material. Provides quantity of work performed.
• Recognize and communicate to Superintendent or Project Manager any priority projects or problems.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed and bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent.
• Coordinates, directs, and leads workers engaged in construction activities.
• Supervise crews to obtain top quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, commitment, teamwork, and pride.
• Review and verifies employee time sheets.
• Suggest and initiate personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, hires, and training requirements.
• Analyze and resolve worker problems and recommend motivational plans.
• Relate to the public and to customers in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner, appropriately responding to their questions and issues.
• Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Know, understand and consistently enforce Company/OSHA rules.
• Exhibit organization skills to ensure loose ends are cleaned up and completes projects timely .
• Assist in effectively training construction workers.
• Read and interprets construction drawings.
• Lead safety meetings.

Education and Training

• A minimum of two to four years of related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed.
• Must include related on-the-job training and experience in construction practices.
• Experience and training must include methods, techniques, equipment, and hands-on experience in a supervisory position.
• Advanced mechanical skills a plus.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must be able to plan, allocate resources, manage production, and coordinate people and equipment.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction.
• Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong-to recognize problems when they occur and to work toward the solution of those problems.
• Ability to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees.
• Must be able to read, understand, and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys, and job specifications.
