Sunbelt Rentals in Morris, IL is seeking an experienced equipment mechanic to service and repair major electrical, hydraulic and diesel engine systems on construction equipment. The role emphasizes diagnostics, preventive maintenance and safety compliance.

Candidates should have 5+ years of mechanic experience with earth-moving equipment, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop and field settings.

• Excellent trouble-shooting skills.
• MACS or equivalent air conditioning training/certification.

Responsabilidades

• Services and oversees major electrical, hydraulic and/or diesel engine repairs of all types of construction equipment as required to ensure proper working condition when leaving the shop.
• Dismantles and reassembles/rebuilds equipment including familiarity with large steel track undercarriage diagnosis and repair.
• Fabricates parts and equipment, including torch cutting and arc welding, as required to meet shop and customer needs.
• Understand complex electrical schematics to diagnose wiring/electrical component failures.
• Understand engine, transmission, hydraulic, and emissions systems and diagnose with OEM/aftermarket programs.
• Understand safe rigging and lifting practices for large components.
• Performs check-ins and safety inspections and assists other equipment mechanics with maintenance.
• Conducts preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and downtime in field or remote settings.
• Maintain a safe work environment and follow safety standards.

Job Description Summary

Position Responsibilities

• Services and oversees major electrical, hydraulic and/or diesel engine repairs of all types of construction equipment as required to ensure proper working condition when leaving the shop:
• Dismantles and reassembles/rebuilds equipment including familiarity with large steel track undercarriage diagnosis and repair.
• Fabricates parts and equipment, including torch cutting and arc welding, as required to meet shop and customer needs
• The ability to understand complex electrical schematics to ensure proper diagnosis of wiring/electrical component failures.
• A thorough understanding of all engine, transmission, hydraulic, and emissions systems with the ability to perform complex diagnostics including the utilization of OEM and/or aftermarket diagnostic software programs.
• An understanding of safe rigging and lifting practices to perform large component removal and installation.
• Performs check-ins and safety inspections and assists other equipment mechanics with general shop and equipment maintenance as needed
• Conducts preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and down time in the field or other remote settings.
• Maintain safe work environment and perform duties in accordance with safety standards.

Education & Experience

• 5+ years of mechanic experience with Earth Moving and similar diesel equipment and/or heavy equipment strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required, some trade school or equivalent training desired.
• May need to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade.
• Excellent trouble-shooting skills.
• MACS or equivalent air conditioning training/certification.

• Ability to work independently and be flexible regarding work assignments.
• Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Must possess a high degree of safety-awareness.
• Working knowledge of equipment design and safety requirements.

Physical Demands

Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 50 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. All duties must be performed according to Sunbelt's safety policies and guidelines. Reasonable accommodations may be made to comply with ADA/ADAAA.

The hourly wage depends on the agreed rate under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement for this location.
