Job summary

Greater-Lawrence-Community-Action-Council seeks an Early Learning Specialist to manage a caseload of families, conduct home visits, and deliver educational toys and books to support literacy and pre-reading skills.

You will administer ASQ assessments, conduct family intake, and coordinate with the CFCE program for community outreach, playgroups, and story times. Bilingual English/Spanish is required to effectively serve families in the Lawrence area.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency required to communicate with families.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Minimum education: Associate Degree in Education, Human Services, or related field.
  • Must pass CORI, SORI, and DCF background checks prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct home visits to families (in-person or via Zoom/WhatsApp/FaceTime) twice weekly for 12 families to boost literacy.
  • Administer ASQ assessments and family intake assessments for qualifying families.
  • Complete case management reports and maintain documentation.
  • Provide resources and community information; support outreach and recruitment.
  • Attend weekly 2-hour PCPLUS staff meetings and ENGAGE training as needed.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with the communities served.
  • Meet weekly with the Team to review caseload with the Program Coordinator.
  • Engage in community outreach through story times, playgroups, and resource sharing.

Job Summary: The Parent child+ Early Learning Specialist manages a caseload of 12 families for the Home Visiting Program; conducts Home Visits; and delivers toys and books, while modeling for parents on the components of early education; connects families to resources; makes referrals as appropriate; uses the DAISY Database system after assisting families with ASQ completion. Additionally, the Early Learning Specialist plans, coordinates, and facilitates community events and engagement in the catchment area, and supports the CFCE program with Community Outreach, playgroups, and story times.Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:Conducts home visits to families in the caseload (these visits may occur via Zoom, WhatsApp, or FaceTime, as needed), twice a week for a caseload of 12 families, to enhance literacy and pre-reading skills for families.Administer ASQ Assessments and conduct family intake assessments for all qualifying families.Complete reports on case management as requested by the Program Coordinator, record keeping, and documentation.Perform required supportive tasks related to the needs of the family and staff.Provide resources and community information to families, as well as support outreach and recruitment efforts.Attend 2-hour PCPLUS weekly staff meetings.Train and participate in ENGAGE training as needed.Develop collaborative relationships with the communities served.Meet weekly with the Team to review caseload and as often as necessary with the Program Coordinator.Participate in community outreach through activities, story times, playgroups, and resource sharing.Support GLCAC, Inc. with community outreach.Skills / Qualifications:Computer proficiency required.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency required to effectively communicate and provide services to families in the communities served.Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy and applicable laws.Must successfully pass CORI, SORI, and DCF background checks prior to employment.Minimum education: Associate Degree in Education, Human Services, or a related field.Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a safe, insured, and reliable means of transportation for work-related travel.Supervisory Responsibility: None.Travel: Required for facilitating playgroups, off-site meetings, trainings, and off-site events.Physical Demands: This position is very active, requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently life and/or move items over 50 pounds.Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
