JOB TITLE: Early Learning Special Education Teacher

JOB BRIEF:

  • We are seekingspecial education teachers to lead and direct students toward the fulfillment of their potential. The special education teachershould lead, implement, and coordinatea specialized designed instructional program for students receiving special education services with the goal of increasing educational opportunities in the least restrictive environment. Opportunities for high-incidence, low-incidence, and district-level social emotional/behavioral learning programsavailable.

LOCATION: Early Learning Centers

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Kansas Teaching License.
  • Degree from an accredited college oruniversity.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:

  • Full time school year position.
  • Based on Salary Schedule.
  • 25-26 Certified Salary Schedule
  • 2026-2027 Salary schedule yet to be established.

REPORTS TO:Building Principal or Director of Special Services.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and delivers instruction aligned with district philosophy, instructional goals, and state standards.
  • Guides students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or students group involved.
  • Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning withing the limits of the resources provided by the district.
  • Demonstrates instructional and interpersonal strategies and techniques that are responsive to the cultural, ethnic, economic, and linguistic differences of students.
  • Evaluates student progress on a continual basis and reports at designated times.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
  • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educational purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Cooperates with other members of staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Other duties as assigned by the administration.

  • KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System): 6% monthly staff contribution. Vested after five years.

TECHNOLOGY:

  • District provided devices - iPad, laptop and/or desktop for certified staff.

PAID COLLABORATION TIME.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Education’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
