Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support individualized and small-group student instruction under a certificated teacher. In Early Learning, you will help create a developmentally appropriate classroom with strategies suited to young children.

You will assist with planning, assessments, safety, and clerical tasks, while collaborating with teachers and parents to support student progress and a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with diverse groups.
• Ability to schedule activities and meetings; gather data and use equipment.
• Basic math; read manuals and present information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned teacher with planning and implementation of activities.
• Provide input for assessments and maintain anecdotal records.
• Maintain safe, organized classroom environment and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Attend meetings and trainings as required.
• Communicate with teachers and parents about student progress.
• Implement instructional programs under teacher supervision to improve student outcomes.
• Maintain and organize classroom resources and student records.
• Monitor students in various settings to ensure safety and learning.
• Perform clerical tasks to support teachers (attendance, copying, etc.).
• Report observations and incidents to instructional staff as needed.
