Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalency, ability to lift 40 pounds, CPR/First Aid training, and dependable, flexible work habits. The position is up to 30 hours per week with an hourly rate of $18.00.

Job Title: Overbrook Early Learning Center Caregiver

East Haven Public Schools is seeking seasoned, energetic, and team oriented individuals with a desire to positively impact our students, and the community.

Reports To: FRC & SR Childhood Facilitator
Program Hours Needed: Positions are up to 30 hours a week
Hourly Rate: $18.00
Primary Role & Responsibilities:

The Caregiver works closely with teachers and non-teaching professionals to provide a wide range of support for students including:

  • setting up and operating equipment
  • supervising students
  • facilitation of activities under the direction of a teacher
  • interact with children, initiate conversation and encourage dialog
  • develop daily activities that are age appropriate
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Successful candidates will be highly energetic, flexible, and dependable
  • Open to learning and able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Well organized and can work independently and with other staff.
  • CPR/1st Aid Train
Professionalism:
  • Maintain confidentiality about issues concerning the children and their families ans well as faculty members.
  • Maintain professsional dress code.
  • Must report to work on time, have good attendance and communicate with Director when you will be out or need time off.
Interaction between Faculty and Children/ Faculty and Parent:
  • Interact frequently, affectionately, and respectfully by smiling and speaking to children in a friendly, calm, soft, courteous manner within close proximity of the child.
  • Respect and observe children's interests. Intervene when needed to maintain safety.
  • Be available and responsive to children's needs, questions, and requests.
Physical Environment, Health, Safety and Nutrition:
  • Maintain and follow all safety and health rules of the program.
  • Supervise children at all times. Demonstrate awareness of entire group while working with a small group or individuals
  • Know the number of children in your group and maintain ratios at all times. Maintain accurate attendance records throughout the day.
  • Keep activity areas organized and safe
  • Be able to lift 40 pounds
