Job summary

Midcoast Maine Community Action is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the lead teacher in creating a fun and engaging learning environment for young children. You will assist with activities, help prepare materials, and set up spaces to foster growth.

You will work closely with families, communicate progress, and participate in team planning sessions. A high school diploma or equivalent and experience with children are preferred, along with patience and creativity in engaging learners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience with children in a classroom or similar setting is preferred.
• Basic understanding of child development and educational practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with classroom activities and lessons.
• Help prepare materials and set up learning spaces.
• Support children during playtime and educational activities.
• Encourage positive behavior and help manage classroom dynamics.
• Communicate with parents and caregivers about children’s progress.
