Job summary

YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a part-time Early Learning Assistant Teacher to assist in planning, developing, and implementing classroom activities. This role requires face-to-face leadership and a Monday–Friday schedule in Grand Rapids, MI.

You will support the Site Coordinator, engage with children, communicate with parents, and help prepare daily materials while maintaining attendance records and supervision.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or CDA preferred; childcare experience 3–6 months or equivalent.
• Ability to interact with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Desire to work with infants, toddlers, and preschool children.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and leading daily lesson plans.
• Actively engage with children in the classroom.
• Assist with daily parent communication.
• Prepare materials for daily activities.
• Maintain attendance and arrival/departure records.
• Supervise children and support parent-teacher conferences as needed.

Performs any other functions deemed to be necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association

Compensation

$15.21 - $19.01 ; Non-Exempt, Part-Time (up to 25 hours/week)

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree or CDA PREFERRED; three to six months childcare related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Ability and desire to work with and care for infants, toddler, and preschool children.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Blood Borne Pathogen training
• CPR Certification required within the first 60 days
• First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days
• State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
• Fingerprinting
• DHS clearance
