Job description

Overview

Imua Family Services is looking for an Early Intervention Teacher to become a part of our team. This position will provide care coordination and management for families of children 0-8 with developmental delays. Imua Family Services is a non‑profit serving Maui, Molokai, and Lanai since 1947. Our mission is to empower children and their families to reach their full potential.

Summary

This position is responsible for the provision of family‑centered culturally competent services for children and their families, birth to eight with typical development and developmental delays. The individual uses a primary service provider and coaching approach to instruct families and their children in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth needed for child development in their natural environments. This position provides interim and on‑going services to families receiving services from Imua Family Services. The individual compiles the necessary information and data for programming and to create accurate reports and billing for various funding sources.

Essential duties and responsibilities also include providing information to other professionals and the community as well as conducting other clerical work and administrative duties as required.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or relevant area required. (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Teachers should meet one of the following requirements.
    • Degree in Elementary Education (Bachelor's or Master's) with a focus on Early Childhood or Special Education; or
    • 5th Year Teaching Certification with a focus on Early Childhood or Special Education; or
    • Degree in Early Childhood (Bachelor's or Master's) and shall have successfully passed at least one (1) course in behavioral management with a minimum grade of "C".

Salary starting at $55,000/year, commensurate with education and relevant experience.
