Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains systems of tracking and reporting referrals for assessment for developmental concerns; utilizes information from ECE child outcomes to measure progress of children with developmental needs and disabilities in ECE programs; meets with multidisciplinary teams and prepares follow-up reports as needed.
  • Serves as a liaison and coordinates communications, activities and information related to ECE programs between applicable school district administrators & personnel, outside organizations, the communities served; establishes, supports, facilitates, and maintains partnerships.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness and operational efficiency of ECE disability service areas and programs; develops and implements processes and procedures to enhance the educational effectiveness and operational efficiency of programs and subject areas.
  • Analyzes data regarding population trends, numbers and types of students served within specific communities to best serve children and families.
  • Tracks and monitors developmental assessments (such as, ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE’s).
  • Compiles, reviews, and analyzes a variety of data and information related to disability service programs and subject areas; prepares and maintains a variety of narrative and statistical records, reports and files related to programs and assigned duties.

POSITION SUMMARY:

To coordinate and analyze Early Childhood Education (ECE) program mandates and best practices related to developmental supports and services for children with suspected developmental delays and needs. This position will link and refer families to their local school district for evaluations and coordinate services for Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP), and Individual Education Plans (IEP). This position will write, revise, and support implementation of service plans for children in the classroom. This position will also monitor program effectiveness to assure compliance and provisions of services for children with developmental needs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in special education, early childhood education, social work or a related field required.
  • A Master’s in Early Childhood Education, or related field, preferred.
  • Three years of experience with early childhood education, including supporting children with developmental delays or specials needs preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development, typical and atypical required.

  • Prepares and maintains records for children with developmental needs and disabilities related to diagnostic reports and Individual Education Programs and Individual Family Service Plans; writes and revises disability service plans, eligibility, recruitment, enrollment, selection and other materials.
  • Collaborates with internal team members such as Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultants and Educations Specialists to best meet the needs of children and families being served.
  • Collaborates and builds relationships with children, families, and teaching staff.
  • Utilizes technology including program specific software and computer programs or apps to complete job requirements; engages both employees/team members and community members through a variety of means (in-person and virtual options).
  • Drive a vehicle to conduct work; visit sites and classrooms to monitor and provide technical advice or training concerning ECE disability program and educational activities.
  • Coordinate, attend and conduct a variety of meetings, trainings, and conferences.
  • Participate in evaluation and quality improvement activities (such as surveys, focus groups, etc.).
  • Participate in individual and group reflective supervision.
  • Provides training, support, monitoring, and other tasks as needed to sub-recipients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management.

  • Must be able to demonstrate a commitment to the welfare of the children and families the program serves and to the delivery of quality services.
  • Must be able to represent the agency in a professional manner.
LICENSING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have a valid State of Michigan driver’s license
